Two things come to mind (and they're related) - side-hustle & write a book. I spent a lot of last winter talking about various plans/ideas/schemes with my brother. I read blogs. I listened to podcasts. I imagined using freelance funds to pay off debt & travel.
And then? I didn't do much.
It's not accurate to say that I didn't side-hustle at all. I was still with Fiskars at the beginning of the year, but my heart hadn't been in it for a while. I still write sporadically for Parenting Squad. I did a handful of freelance photography shoots. If I'm being honest...I didn't take any of them very seriously. To be fair (to myself), my day job changed focus in late 2013, so I had very little mental energy to really attack the side-hustle space.
I made a few moves toward writing an e-book. I jotted down ideas, and I even talked through the self-publishing process with a contact at Balboa Press. Then I let fear & insecurity sneak in, and I couldn't find the words. I thought about launching a "new" blog concept...and then didn't follow through. I'm really good at the procrastination.
So...am I going to revisit the side-hustle and the e-book in 2015? My answer, at least right now, is a resounding YES. I'll either succeed, or I'll have some really good stories to tell. Wish me luck?
