Hi there. It's been awhile. I've tried to get back to the blog a few times...always interrupted by a slow connection, or the sudden realization that I really don't have 10 extra minutes. So, I'm back. With no clever segue, no gentle transition. Simply jumping back in...
I've been traveling. Nothing glamorous...just my usual trips to NYC and Ohio. Traveling often means missing lunch, but making up for it with splendid dinners. I make notes of favorites in restaurants so that I can attempt making the dishes at home. Currently on the list - the risotto cake pictured above. Delish.
I've visited urgent care/emergency twice in the span of a week. First, I took a client who became very ill during her visit. I know how awful it is to be sick...and it's 100x worse when you're a plane ride away from home. Fortunately, she was feeling better the next day, so I got her back to NYC for some rest & recovery. Poor thing! Second, I took Austin after the championship football game on saturday. He tweaked his ankle/foot after receiving a pass & being tackled by 3 gigantic players. He has been on crutches, waiting for an eval by the orthopedic doctor tomorrow. The good news is that his team won the game! Go Catamounts!
I've started the baking season. Admittedly a slow start. I've been leaning toward blondie/cookie bar recipes, but I'm finding them to be a bit dry. I may stick with brownies & cookies. Tried & true. I've partaken in the red cup. I'm not ashamed to admit that I am grateful for the appearance of the red cup.
I'm pondering a huge break with tradition...forgoing the thanksgiving turkey. ::gasp!:: The truth is, we don't even really like turkey all that much. We won't have guests for thanksgiving, so there's no need to make it out of obligation. Don't worry...the pumpkin pie isn't going anywhere.
What have y'all been up to?
