Hello! Blogging from the high sea today (okay, honestly, I don't know what "high sea" means, but it sounds snazzy, eh?). We're having a great time. The word that keeps coming to mind is "abundance"....an abundance of food, an abundance of drink, an abundance of activities, an abundance of good times. We spent yesterday in Key West, and we'll port in Cozumel this afternoon. It's all good. It's all good.
Hope you're all having a great week! Wish you were here!
One last blog entry before we head out. Actually, before we head to bed...we need to be up at 3:00am to get to the airport by 4:00 for our flight. Ick. So it's early to bed for everyone.
Lots of last minute anxiety this weekend. It's been rainy & cold here all weekend, so it's been hard to be motivated to get things done. Hope & I got pedicures yesterday (may I just add that the price for pedicures equates to highway robbery?) and did some last minute shopping. Which resulted in a fight over Hope's obsession with American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, and all things fabulous....and my explanation that my bank account is less than fabulous, so she'll have to settle for her mediocre life just a while longer. It really wasn't pretty...lots of tears, and pretty much a ruined evening. I went from being "like, a really cool mom" to the bane of her existence in about 3 hours. Lovely.
A highlight from yesterday....Welcome to Moe's!!! Do you have one of these restaurants near you? It's so much fun! And pretty yummy food, too. The staff yells "welcome to Moe's" as you walk in the door. The menu is hilarious...my favorites: the Homewrecker burrito and the Ugly Naked Guy taco. And I totally want a tshirt like this.
Oh, and speaking of food...since I won't be around to remind you of this...Tuesday is Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's. Worth the wait. Yum.
Home again. It seems that every trip to Ohio is an adventure...this trip was no exception....
So, two more days of work....two days PACKED with meetings...and then it's the weekend. And then...................bon voyage!! I'm so freakin' excited.
Among the many things/places that we don't have in Vermont (Target, fresh tortillas, Crate & Barrel, fresh tortillas, The Container Store, fresh tortillas)....PF Chang's. I'll go all the way to Ohio to get some PF Chang's. Oh, and to work a little, too. Headed out this afternoon, back tomorrow. Brace yourselves, no blog tomorrow am. LOL.
I'm feeling the need to call attendance today. A few people have been absent far too long...Matthew, Mo, Paula...just say hello, would ya? And Bryan, start your own blog already. Typepad is free for 30 days...nothing to lose.
I guess I really don't have much to say today. Oh, for those who asked...got the bathing suit from the hip & stylish & oh-so-trendy...JC Penney. Seriously. In the misses dept even. Who knew?
Alright, need to go throw some things in a suitcase. See ya.
just a few blog keeping notes today...
*swimsuit - you won't be seeing me in it until I get some sun (and a few drinks) on the cruise, so here it is laid out on the living room floor:
*the Razr phone went back....it just wasn't working for either one of us. I know it's supposed to be cool b/c it's so thin, but I can't talk into a credit card. I can USE credit cards quite well, just can't TALK into them. And I need that little antenna thingy when I'm talking on the phone on the way to & from work...the Razr didn't seem to get great reception.
*there is an internet cafe on the ship, so guess what? I will be blogging from the cruise! Aren't you all excited? Okay, well, at least my Mom is excited. And my Dad. And I'm excited b/c I'll get to check email in the hopes that either CK or ST want any of the layouts that I submitted last week.
*I didn't work on my Friends album AT ALL this weekend. I decided to do a layout for a call that ended at midnight on Saturday...spent 45 minutes fiddling with paper/pictures/placement....then decided that it just wasn't working. No mojo. I spent yesterday digging through files & piles looking for my passport (found it!), paying bills, and researching cruise tips online (I *heart* tips & tricks about anything)...another no mojo day.
*this qualifies as blogkeeping, b/c I've talked around it here for weeks - y'know the friend issues? We have good days. I have bad days. As I was going through stuff looking for my passport, I found a receipt from a restaurant that we had dinner at more than 6 months ago. Then I found a birthday card. Then I read this quote on Wendy's blog: "Don't be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes is certain for those who are friends. (Richard Bach)" The combination of those things adds up to this in my head...the universe telling me that it will be okay....we have history, and we have friendship, and we'll have a future.
*I still haven't made that purse that I want to make.
That's all for now....Happy Monday!
I love the concept of RAKs...random acts of kindness. I have to admit that I'm not so good about moving from concept to action. I forget, I get busy, I put things aside b/c I need just one more thing, blah, blah, blah. I also think that I seperate RAKs and "surprises" in my head for some reason. For example, I sent out little pkgs this week to friends simply b/c I found something that will make them smile...I just want them to open the pkg with that anticipation of "what is this??" and then smile. Is that a RAK? Yeah, I guess it is. Anywhoo....here's the reason for 2 posts in one day.....today has been a RAK-alicious kind of day for me.
1. Lori and Maddie brought us presents (I know this, b/c Maddie walked in the door saying "I brought you presents! I brought you presents! I brought you presents!"...so adorable). And EVEN BETTER than the presents was getting to just hang with Lori & Maddie for a little bit....I love little kids, and Maddie is just awesome. THANK YOU to Lori & Maddie for our presents and for your company!
2. An email from Shelley (Shell, i need your link!!) turned up in my inbox today. Total stranger - found me through the world of Two Peas and blogs. And took the time to not only say hi, but to say "I have to tell you, in reading your blog, you remind me so much of myself... I think that is why I am so inspired by you." Seriously? Seriously. Shelley, you rocked my day. Thank you so very, very much.
and last, but not least....
3. The bunny reveal in the Pub yesterday (it's a Peas thing) had me a little bummed. My bunny has been a little MIA....she had totally showered me with great scrappin stuff back in March, so it wasn't about the "stuff"....I was just worried that I had done something wrong! So, yesterday, I got a very sweet, honest email from her...explaining that she really hadn't known how MUCH she was taking on with the Bunny thing. And I totally get it. Totally. So, imagine my complete & utter SHOCK when I got this box of scrappin' goodness from her today. April P....you went above & beyond your bunny duties....you are freakin' amazing. (and she's from Sacramento, so it's kinda like getting a present from home!) THANK YOU! Feast your eyes, folks...
